Hello! I’m Alexis!
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Hi, my name is Alexis Goolkasian, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at CreativeCounseling Living & Wellness, LLC. Having spent my entire career working with struggling teens, adolescents and children, I know parents often find themselves struggling to understand what they can do to help them feel better.
For many parents, it can be hard to remember a time when interactions with their teens didn’t turn into a full-fledged screaming match. It’s easy for parents to feel like they have no idea what’s going in their child’s mind or life and talking to them about it is like walking on eggshells. The harder you try to connect, the more it can feel as if your teen is pushing you away or shutting you out of their life. It’s scary to observe these sudden changes in your teen’s mood, interests and behavior, especially when you are unable to communicate your concerns or offer guidance without them becoming defensive or slamming their bedroom door in your face.
Imagine what it would be like for you and your child or teen to have fun and spend quality time together. They would feel better about themselves with greater self-esteem and self-love and you would feel confident in their decision-making ability and their ability to manage the stress of becoming an adult.
I am passionate about working with clients to improve self-esteem and develop unconditional self-love. I provide a safe and judgment-free environment for individuals and families to express and explore their feelings, thoughts and experiences, helping to break down barriers to communication and understanding between you and your teenager.
My Approach & Values
Taking a strength-based, collaborative approach to therapy, I personalize my techniques and tailor my interventions to suit each client’s unique background, values, interests and worldview. I help your adolescent or teen learn to express themselves and manage emotions and stress in ways that are safe and healthy and help you reconnect and effectively support your teen through a combination of individual and family therapy. My approaches and techniques include, but are not limited to, creative arts therapy, play therapy, mindfulness therapy, person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), among others.
For more information and to further discuss how we can work together to improve the life of both your teen and yourself, please email or call for a free 20-minute phone consultation. I can’t wait to embark on this life-changing journey to help you and your teen overcome adversity and live your best lives.
